what a day!

today was one of the most enriching days of my life.. a lot of depth..a lot of meanings.. and a lot of ideas..

the beginning was from my presentation .. i spoke about Egypt a bit.. some details about the medical school in Egypt and some about the health system in Egypt.. a lot more about Ancient Egyptians and their medicine.. i was really astonished to know about imhotep . He is the first engineer, architect and physician known by name in history. isn’t this amazing?? his name means ” the one who came in , with peace ” .. i love this.. he became the god of medicine for ancient egyptians after his death.. and he was one of three authors of the oldest surgery textbook in the history of the human kind.. if you want to know more about him, read his wiki page..

after the presentation i got sometime to relax.. in the students common, i ate my lunch.. went to the mosque to pray zuhr and Asr.. then to starbucks where i checked my email and got a cup of cappuccino with hazelnut flavor, this is my favorite.. or frappuccino  with caramel flavour and whipped cream.. haha.. anyways..

@ 6 i was in the hall for the CCGH dinner celebration… there was a list of speakers and some shows in between.

the night started with a couple of hispanic teenagers dancing tango.. they weren’t that good.. then spoke Mahsa a medical student took a year off after the second year to make MBA and she volunteered in Haiti, some Caribbean country where they don’t have even cars!! just nothing.. so she volunteered there to do some health things..

after that came a show of Egyptian dancing.. three little girls who dance horribly on some stupid egyptian song i dont know what or who was the singer..

then spoke a doctor about his experience in volunteering in medicine in many different countries around the world, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Tanzania, etc… where he had a lot a lot to show and a lot of photos that disgust you and take your heart away.. amputations and landmines injuries and so on..

then a show of 4 little girls dancing spanish dancing.. lovely ..  the beauty is that they are little girls.. they dont rhythm .. they dont synchronize.. they are just dancing the way they want. that was very simple and very far from professionalism which added some simplicity to touch of joy to the event..

then came another doctor and gave a presentation about “medical travel” .. the idea in general is that here in USA they dont have enough facilities and man power to cover all the needs .. to the degree that many citizens just travel to europe or other countries to get medical procedures done then they go back home.. The americans are not trying to minimize this, they are trying to make use of this to release the pressure from the increase need in the market with the insufficient number of providers. a really interesting and practical talk and discussion afterwords.

the finally a mexican dance.. then the dinner time..

Rasoul was sitting just beside me.. we went to the dinner together with Soliman, another student originally from Afghanistan..

when we took the food from the buffet and headed towards the tables, Rasoul was stopped by the president of the collage who invited the three of us to his table and his wife.. to your surprise, they were jewish :) and we were three guys, Iran, Egypt and Afghanistan.. lol .. isn’t this great? a new experience.. i had some conversation with them about what i am doing here and they “again” said “how did you pick up such a good english?” i said again that i went to the AUC for courses and so.. they were very interested.. and the Dean came and had some jokes with Rasoul and the president.. the relationship here is very friendly and professors are really humble..

then was the time for the raffel, ” 2or3a” and as i told you before.. i usually decide to win the raffel and i usually do.. and this is what happened this time too.. i decided.. i won.. Rasoul was in shock.. as i told him that before .. he now saw it :) i won a photo of some mountain in New Zealand shot by a student who was there.. :) sweet..then they distributed many awards for the students with the best achievements the last year and the students gave the professors and supervisors flowers and gifts and so on..

the night is done.. me and Rasoul are heading home.. around 9 pm.. and then we started talking.. was one of the best conversations i have ever had in my life.. we split @ 11pm .. you can imagine.. i loved the level of understanding and mutual respect .. the enrichment we gave each other.. he added a lot to me and i can tell i did the same.. we spoke mainly about religion.. about missions in life.. about influence .. about future and past.. about Allah.. his ways… science.. societies.. music.. women.. brothers.. i loved that :) tomorrow we will pray Friday together isA and then we will go to Orange county with his brother Ramin..i will be back home on Sunday isA.. i wish we will have a good time :) then i have to postpone the adrenaline and adventure time to some other time.. maybe next weekend when i am in LA.. who knows.. Rabbena ysahhel..

i booked the flight to San Francisco to be on May 4th.. so i am moving to LA on May 1st where i will be staying at some guy’s house from Couchsurfing.com.. i hope i will be lucky arranging this..

al7amdolellah guys, i have a wonderful time here.. mostly because of the new things and new people i meet and the new conversations and new topics.. you dont get to do this with your friends or family.. this is why you should travel a lot.. and many times alone :)
